We met Doug in the New Park Liberal Club on City Road over 40 years ago. Following the untimely passing of his beloved Brenda we struck up a friendship with Doug which became very close as the years went by. He joined us on holidays to Turkey, Spain, The Canaries among others and many weekends away with the club as well. When walking became difficult and he was using a wheelchair, Regia visited him regularly to help with cleaning his house and prepare the odd meal for him, in addition to his carers and his family. He often said he thought of us as his “extended” family and he was very much a Father figure to Regia, so his passing is like losing one of our own family. Rest in peace Doug, you will never be forgotten.
